Good Friday

Good Friday

One of the most solemn days in Christian history is called ‘Good Friday’. This day begins with Jesus on trial and ends with Him hanging on a cross. Between Jesus’ trial and crucifixion we witness a journey to the cross that is marked by Roman torture. Jesus is tied to a post and He is severely beaten, flogged with sharp flesh-tearing whips, and ordered to carry his own execution device to the place of the skull.

Set in its immediate context this Friday is anything but ‘good.’ However, in hindsight, we see this event give way to the most glorious event in human history, the resurrection of Jesus! As we prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday we want to observe Good Friday together as a church community by entering into the event-filled Friday with reading, reflection, and reverence.

To help make this historical event more vivid and personal we have put together a timeline that allows us to see the times, events, and scripture references. Knowing the time helps us feel more present and connected to the sacrifice of Jesus and this moment in history.

Here is how you can observe Good Friday with us:

1. Will you set 5 alarms on your phone,  set to the times below, that go off throughout the day?

2. Will you take a moment to read and reflect on the scriptures referenced with that time?

Please join us by scheduling these times into your phone and set aside a moment to read and reflect on the corresponding verses as we remember the death of Jesus.
